When the temperature outside increases it is important to ensure we minimise the risk of heatstroke.

 

Please remember:

• No dog has died from missing one walk. They have died from one walk in the heat.
• Always provide fresh clean water for your pet.
• Walk your dog during the coolest parts of the day (early morning and late evening). 
• Avoid ball/retrieval games.
• Avoid walking your dog on hot pavements. Pads can burn easily.
• Some dogs appreciate a paddling pool or frozen treats.
• Provide shade for rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens.

 

If you think it might be too warm to walk your dog, it probably is.

Be safe. 

Don't risk it.

NEVER, under any circumstances, leave your dog in a parked car.

 

Dogs at high risk include:

• Brachycephalic breeds (shorrt nose, flatter face such as pugs, bulldogs and boxers)
• Dogs with heart/respiratory disease.
• Senior dogs.
• Overweight dogs.
